Q: Do you work from photographs?

A: Yes. When placing an order, please provide several photographs of your pet. Close-ups showing detail in the face will help to ensure a close likeness to your pet. Digital photos in JPEG format are preferred. You can also send prints or a CD to: Gabriele Bungardt, PO Box 1163, Alameda, CA 94501

Q: How do you decide on the pets pose?

A: The eyes are the window to the soul. Historically portraits of people were mostly painted with the subject looking directly at the viewer. This makes for a very personal connection between the painting and the viewer. I like to capture that feeling between you and your pet by painting the pet looking straight at you.

Q: My pet is not looking into the camera or has ‘red-eye’?

A: As long as your pets face is directed towards the camera I can paint the eyes to look directly at the viewer. I can fix ‘red-eye’ problems and other photographic artifacts.

Q: I don’t have good photos, can you photograph my pet for me?

A: Yes, I offer photography service for a fee to get the best photo possible to inspire your pets painting. You receive a CD with your pets’ photos and a $100 Credit applied to your commission portrait painting.

Q: Will you paint a close-up of my pets face or will you paint a full view of my pet?

A: On smaller paintings I prefer close-ups of the face to show more of your pets’ personality. On larger paintings I can show more of your pets body or the surroundings. We can discuss your preferences when the order is placed.

Q: Can you paint several pets in one picture?

A: Yes. A price adjustment is necessary if more than one pet will be painted in the same art piece.

Q: Do all my pets have to be in the same photo for a multiple pet painting?

A: No. It is hard to get all animals look good in the same photograph. I can merge several photos into one painting. A price adjustment might be necessary depending on the complexity of the composition.

Q: What if I want other elements or a specific background in the paining?

A: No problem. We can discuss your preferences when you place the order. A price adjustment might be necessary depending on the complexity of the background.

Q: Can you paint odd size or oversized portraits?

A: Yes. Please contact me to discuss your requirements. Pricing for odd size and large portraits can be discussed on a case by case basis.

Q: Can you do a portrait of me and my pet?

A: Yes. However, at this point I do paintings of owners and their pets only in watercolor technique. Pricing can be discussed on a case by case basis.

Q: How do you decide on the style/color scheme of the portrait?

A: My portraits are an artistic representation of the photograph chosen. Colors and background may vary and are subject to artistic interpretation.

Q: How long does it take to finish my pet portrait?

A: The painting time can take between 2 weeks and 2 month depending on the size of the painting. I maintain a waiting list which usually gets longer as the year progresses. Please inquire at gabriele@ipaintyourpet.net for a current waiting estimate.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

A: I accept credit card payments through paypal. You can pay through this website by clicking on the –buy now- button on the Order Information page. I also accept cash, money orders, cashiers checks and personal checks.

Q: How do I order a pet portrait?

A: Please contact me at gabriele@ipaintyourpet.net to start the process. Email photos of your pet or mail prints or a CD to Gabriele Bungardt, PO Box 1163, Alameda, CA 94501.

A down payment of 50% of the purchase price will hold your place on my waiting list. The balance is due prior to delivery of the finished painting. Please see the Order Information page for more information.
